Take in the most important pieces, then enjoy some free time to wander the museum on your own.
After the Egyptian Museum, visit the Madrassa of Sultan Hassan, a Mamluk-era landmark that’s one of the largest mosques in the world. Hear the story of the young Sultan’s dramatic rule and explore the mosque’s grand courtyard, then continue to the Gayer Anderson Museum. Once the home of a British major, the museum building itself is a fascinating artifact, one of Cairo’s best-preserved 17th-century houses filled with a wide-ranging collection of domestic antiques and artwork.
