Featuring a maze of corridors and chambers, the huge mortuary temple that originally stood adjacent to this pyramid is believed to have formed the basis of the complex of buildings with galleries and courtyards called the “Labyrinth” by Herodotus

We continue the trip to the mud-brick pyramid of Lahun or El-Lahun pyramid, discovered by the British archaeologist William Petrie in 1889 & known for its well-preserved mortuary temple.
Also called the Pyramid of Senusret II, this Middle Kingdom masterpiece, built around 1897 BCE, offers an entirely different story of ancient Egyptian innovation, engineering, and history.

The last stop on your trip is Meidum. It contains a large pyramid and several mudbrick mastabas (originally designed as a step pyramid with three layers, but the attempt wasn’t entirely successful).
The structure is 213 feet (65 meters) high, 66 feet (20 meters) above present ground level. The steep descending passage 57 feet (17 meters) long leads to a horizontal passage, just below the original ground level, that then leads to a vertical shaft 10 feet (3.0 meters) high that leads to the corbelled burial chamber itself. The chamber is unlikely to have been used for any burial.
